Wolf Rock Site 4

Site 4 coordinates: N39 37.802 1224 ft
Aspect: 270- West
Slope Postion: Off Shoulder
Temperature: 13 Degrees celsius
Landform: Cove
This site was full of Mountain Laurel, Black Oak, Pitch Pine, and Blueberry.
Because of the Black Oak and Pitch Pine we can know that the soil is dry and well drained. The area was surrounded with rocks and very shady, making the mountain laurel and blueberry bushes the perfect plants to grow in the rocky, dry soil. This was an Off Shoulder site; it is land that is steep and rounded, that precedes a flat area above it. There is not much rainfall that directly hits the site, most of the rainfall is from the site run off from the land above. This site also does not get much sunlight directly hitting it because it is not facing the East where the sun rises, it is blocking the sun and prevents the vegetation from getting much light. These dry site plants thrive in conditions such as these and that is why you will find them on the side of the cove that is blocking the sun and not receiving its light or much nutrients.
